Courses in Florence: Nutrition and Health, Cooking, and the History of Food

Together with the American Foundation “Create Cures”, the Valter Longo Foundation offers weekly courses in Florence: Nutrition and Health, Cooking, and the History of Food in the Mediterranean. One course focuses on the principles of healthy eating and The Longevity Diet, while another course explores the history of food in the Mediterranean, providing an overview of the eating habits and lifestyles in this area, from Roman times through modern days.

All courses include guided tours of important historical sites in Florence, including The Uffizi Gallery—where the tour focuses on the representation of food in art. Other sites include the Brancacci Chapel, the old pharmacy at Santa Maria Novella, Palazzo Vecchio, the Church of Santo Spirito, the Church of San Miniato, the Central Market, and the Sant’Ambrogio Market. The tour also features tastings of culinary specialties such as coffee, oil, wine, and chocolate from Modica, as well as the opportunity to participate in a yoga lesson.
